Eastern North Carolina is an area that is rich in agricultural resources such as: cotton, soybeans, corn, poultry, wheat, peanuts and the like. Native American aboriginals of the land bestowed farming techniques upon new settlers. Cultivating what later went on to become one of the most well known regions for farmland production. In Pitt County, 77% of the land is designated for crops, 14% of the land is designated as green space and woodland.

The Coastal Envirothon competition will be carried out Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at Weyerhaeuser's Cool Springs Environmental Education Center. Pitt County has 14 teams competing from D. H. Conley HS, Farmville Central HS, J. H. Rose HS, South Central HS, A. G. Cox Middle, Greenville Montessori School, Pitt Homeschoolers, and The Oakwood School. We wish you much success during the Coastal Envirothon!
